Happy new year to all our readers. There has been no rest over the holidays in the festival office, with the programme in full design mode and being sent off to the printers next week. It is jam packed with amazing performances and inspiring productions. We’ve already given you a taster with the news of Black Grace performing ‘Vaka’ and we’re also delighted to be able to tell you that we’ll also be presenting ‘On the Upside Down of the World’ from Auckland Theatre Company. It’s based on the journals of Lady Ann Martin, the young wife of our first Chief Justice who came to New Zealand in 1841. In this one woman show Laurel Devenie gives a knock out performance – NBR said “Laurel Devenie’s performance is one of the best of the year”. This will be performed at Luggate Hall for three nights.
That’s it for sneak previews…….the rest remains a secret until launch next month on 14 February.
