Festival Countdown # 14 – 10 days to go!
Now that Easter is over we are looking towards the start of the Festival of Colour on Tuesday April 28. The days are ticking away and with only 10 days to go, make sure you are rested before festival fever hits Wanaka and the surrounding area. We have six days and nights of outstanding performances that we hope will keep you all busy with wonderful cabaret, classical music, drama, discussions and art.
We have been able to release a few extra tickets to some of our shows that were previously sold out, so check out the website and you may be in luck. There is also the Exchange board in the foyer of the Lake Wanaka Centre for people to buy and sell tickets they can no longer use – it’s made lots of people very happy that have been able to get tickets for sell out shows.
Classical beauty
 |
We are delighted to have the New Zealand String Quartet playing as part of their national tour. This performance is worthy of Vienna or Paris and we are extremely fortunate to have musicians of this calibre playing in Wanaka. Their performance of Haydn’s Seven Last words from the Cross is on Saturday 2 May at 7pm at the Lake Wanaka Centre. |
 |
Southern Suite by Mike Nock is directly inspired by his last performance at the Festival of Colour and is a duet played by Michael Houstoun and Diedre Irons. With section titles like ‘Copland Crossing’ and ‘Wanaka Dreaming’ it is very close to home. Other duets include work by Mendelssohn and Bizet. |
Buy your tickets to both these shows online www.festivalofcolour.co.nz or by phoning (03) 443 4178 or pop into the isite in Wanaka
Touring Shows

And don’t forget our wonderful touring shows in the community halls. This is a wonderful opportunity to see great performances in intimate venues. Plays like Strange Resting Places and the wonderful New Zealand Army dance Band will be touring the region so check out the website for full information – www.festivalofcolour.co.nz |

We are delighted to welcome Bluebridge Cook Strait Ferries as a festival sponsor. They are helping us with the shipping of the Crystal Palace. Their support like all of the sponsors and patrons is vital to the ongoing success of the festival, and we are extremely grateful
